Ref 6-1 Churchill & Initiative. From 'Former Naval Person, Winston Churchill and the Royal Navy' by Vice Admiral Sir Peter Gretton KCB, DSO, OBE, DSC (rtd). P. 308: In discussing the situation in Nelson's time he writes: "There were not enough other captains of that calibre - men with initiative, zeal and a burning eagerness to attack the enemy; there were too many dull, inactive men who had to be prodded into action and who were reluctant to seize any initiative which was presented, and Nelson and his band were exceptions rather than the rule".

Ref 7-0  Weber-Tawney Thesis
Predominant Culture during the main period of economic growth of the country, showing National Income per head in the equivalent of  £ sterling, 1963.   This table shows that the Protestant Christian countries were more successful in industialisation and economic growth during their formative years.  Some may argue that the Protestant Work Ethic is responsible for this growth.

Ref 7-1.  Churchill & the 10 Commandments:
Winston Churchill was influenced by Sir Francis Mowatt, head of the Civil Service around 1900. Churchill described Sir Francis' policy as 'Let Government reduce itself and it's demands upon the public to a minimum; let the nation live of its own; let social and industrial organization take whatever course it pleased, subject to the law of the land and the Ten Commandments'. From Thoughts and Adventures: Winston S. Churchill. Quoted in Winston Churchill, the Era and the Man by Virginia Cowles, Hamish Hamilton, 1953.

Ref 7-3.  Laws against the 10 Commandments. 'Britain in Sin'. Published by Christian Voice in 1998. This lists the 10 Commandments and the legislation that has been passed against the obedience of every one of the Commandments in the UK, Europe and the United Nations.
On Page 22 it states that in 1900 there were fewer than 3 crimes for every 1000 people. By 1980 it was 50 per 1000. Today (1998) it was 100 for every 1000 people.
On the back of the book 'Britain in Sin', Lord Ashbourne is quoted as saying 'the list of unrighteous laws passed during the last 50 years is particularly helpful; indeed, it would be a miracle if we were not in decline, having passed so much legislation which is directly contrary to Scripture.

Ref 7-4  Behaviour characteristics of different ages of Christians.
Just as the secular studies of behaviour show different characteristics for different age groups so the same can be said for Christians.  Christians are influenced  by the secular attitudes and here is a table that summarises some of them.  If someone would like to claim to be the source of this data I will be able to acknowledge it.  Many of these studies are originated by someone and are then adapted by others and a true source cannot be determined.
